I went to Boris’s Question Time on Tuesday. If you live in London and have the time then you should go. It’s once a month. Ken Livingston goes, and was almost sitting next to me- give or take twenty sears. It’s in City Hall- which love or hate is pretty impressive, I love it.
The other nice thing about it is that you can come and go as you please. The public gallery is open throughout the 2-3 hours it takes and you’re not obliged to sit through all of it. You’re also very close to the action. You could probably spit on Richard Barnbrook if you tried hard enough…
Boris came over as a lovable Labrador. Unfortunately I don’t really want a lovable Labrador running London, no matter how fluffy his hair is.
He also came out with some corkers. One of my favourites was his response to Lib Dem Assembly Member, Dee Doocey.
Dee Doocey: “Will you be taking action to abolish limousines and chauffeurs for senior Met Police officers?”
This perk costs tax payers nearly two million pounds.
Boris, after assuring Doocey that there was a “review” underway, went on to say:
“People have not taken enough note of Sir Paul Stephenson’s decision to forgo his bonus”
Pardon? We should be grateful? Stephenson, (who’s head of the Met Police), has a salary of £253,000. That he’s forgone his bonus means £2 million on limos for cops is justifiable? Hmmmm. Only 6 weeks ago Boris was advocating the abolition of ministerial cars, why is this any different? I’m confused.
